Delavan Lake

Show Date: August 1st & 2nd, 2020

Location: Delavan Lake, Delavan, Wisconsin

Sadly there will not be a family show this year due to very poor fishing while we were up north.  High blue skies, and hot weather may have contributed to what we experienced, but we didn’t have a lot of time to think about it, because we still needed to get a show to put on TV.  

We gave our resident bass expert Matt Bichanich a call, and told him that our almost 30-year streak of weekly new shows was in danger, and that we needed him to put us on fish.  Matt loves to fish tournaments, and he’s learned how to get it done when it’s coming down to the wire. 

Delavan Lake is a popular lake, and we’ve usually done very well in all weather conditions, so that’s why Matt is bringing us here.  Fishing weed flats with the Wac-O worm, and moving to the edges as the day goes on is our plan.

Episode 33

The Dog Days of Summer

We’ve been in a bit of a funk over here at John Gillespie’s Waters & Woods, and we thought a trip up to see Josh Teigen would cure it, and we’d finally get on a good bite.

We have some special guests with us, and we want to show them the monster bass and walleye that swim in the waters just off of Ashland, Wisconsin. Pete Maina brought his Recon too, so we’d have plenty of space for our 4 guest. 

Andy from Wisconsin Pharmacal, Dave from Premiere Floor Coating, Len from Amsoil, and Wes from Johnson Pump all join us on this two-day adventure. 

 Josh put us on some nice fish on Chequamegon Bay, but he had to work for them, and we ended up getting blown off for our second day, forcing us inland.  The beautiful thing about the area between Ashland, and Josh’s hometown of Iron River, is that there is a ton of water to fish.  No matter the wind direction or weather, Josh has a place in mind where he can go to get on fish.  Inland we still struggled, and we just chalked it up to a low pressure system that was going by when we were there. 

Hopefully we get on a more consistent bite next week!

Vilas County Walleyes

We finally got on some walleyes this week!  We’ve been trying to get on a good bite, but for one reason or another, they weren’t biting.  Rob Manthei takes us, along with Henry Abbott, for some relaxing summer walleye action. 

Episode 35

The Muskie Season Begins

Show Date: August 29th & 30th, 2020

Location: Leech Lake - Longville, Minnesota

We’re finally muskie fishing in 2020, and much like the rest of year, it’s not going so great.  An unexpected warmup is what we believe shut the bite down, but as any good muskie angler will tell you, you need to put in the time.  We put in our time, and caught only a couple of fish, but it’s not all about catching fish.  We had a great time catching up with our longtime friend, and host while we were in town, Rusty Lilyquist.
