Windy Winters Walleye

It’s a windy day in the north woods, but luckily there are places that we can hide and catch fish.  Jeff Winters is our guide, and he has us casting for beautiful Wisconsin walleyes.  These walleyes are biting very light today, so we need to let them eat for a few seconds before we set the hook.  We are fishing weeds using jigs and minnows, today is a live bait day!

Fishin’ with the Winners

In this episode we host the first winners of our WisconsinLovesDodge.com contest.  We are out on the bay of Green Bay targeting walleyes.  Our guests for the day are Craig Karen, & Brady, a great family from Ellsworth Wisconsin, and we’re looking forward to having a great day fishing with them.  
 
Larry Smith is our guide on a wind swept day, where we try to duck out of the wind, but find that the fish are only in the windiest areas.  We are targeting walleyes, casting in 6-10 feet of water using Berkley Flicker Shads.  We catch some really nice eater walleyes, so our winners can take home a fish fry.  We also happen upon some fantastic jumbo trophy small mouth bass.

Leech Lake Muskies

We are on Leech lake near Longville Minnesota to kick off this years Muskie season.  We have two guides, Pete Maina and Brian Schram.  Leech is a huge lake, and there are thousands of spots to fish.  June is the time that you want to focus on the new weeds that have sprouted in the spring.  We are seeing water temps in the high 60’s, which is great temps for just about any bait, so go crazy on your bait selection.

Episode 26
Andy Myers Lodge

It’s our first Canadian trip this year, and we’re starting out on Eagle Lake in Vermilion Bay.  We are guided by Danny Herbeck on this huge 88 mile long body of water.  Also joining us is Danny’s dad, Steve Herbeck; and Tom Hays, John’s brother-in-law.  Tom hasn’t fished with John in 40 years, and Danny promises that he’ll catch a walleye.  We are targeting walleyes, casting using jigs with minnows or gulp.  We are looking for weeds, which is where the fish go after the mayfly hatch.
 
We target walleye in the morning, catching some beautiful examples of Canadian walleyes.  We explore a few different areas of Eagle Lake, which seems to be endless. Demonstrating the versatility of this gorgeous body of water, we head to some bass spots and target small mouth.  We use a jig and Berkley 5” Jerk Shad using a bass hook rigged weed-less, casting into reeds finds us the nicest fish.
