Episode 9

Panfishing Fun in Waukesha Co.

Show Date: March 2nd & 3rd, 2019

Location: Waukesha County, Wisconsin

We stick close to home this week, and fish “Lake Country” in Waukesha County Wisconsin.  Matt Bichanich lives in the area, as does Kurt Kellogg, the owner of Acme Tackle. Kurt fishes in this area all year long, and loves to get out to ice fish for bluegills.

Jigging with tungsten jigs and Kastmasters, both tipped with spikes or wax worms, is what brings in the gills.  There are a lot of fish in the weeds, and we find that using the Kastmaster is the way to catch the larger ones.  We also set Beaver Dams for pike and bass too, which is a great way to break up the day.

Episode 10

Cold Winter Blues

Show Date: March 9th & 10th, 2019

Location: Iron River, Wisconsin

Guide: Josh Teigen [715-813-0575  | joshteigen.com ]

This week were up in the Iron River Wisconsin area so Josh can rescue us from our endless winter blues.  This time last year we were on the Fox River catching beautiful walleyes in open water out of our Recon. This year it’s not meant to be, as we find ourselves on over 2 feet of ice in northern WIsconsin.  With no hope of getting into a boat anywhere, Josh takes us to a great panfish bite on ice, where the fish bite pretty consistently. Set up in deep weeds using tungsten jigs, as well as Kastmasters; both tipped with wax worms.  Working just off the bottom, our Humminbirds key in the fish so we know when to change our presentation to get a bite.

Episode 11

Open Water at Last!

Show Date: March 16th & 17th, 2019

Location: Lake Michigan, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Guide: Captain Caleb Zorn [Wacky Walleye Guide Service - 920-743-5731 | wackywalleye.com]

We found open water! We are kicking off the 2019 open water season on Lake Michigan with Captain Caleb Zorn.  Caleb has been fishing the west side of Lake Michigan his entire life, and he always knows if the fish are biting.

This week we’re in a bit of a bind, we didn’t catch any fish at our original location on the river near Stevens Point, so we called Caleb last-minute.  He came through, and we got to fish a few locations, using a few different presentations.

We target brown trout, but come across a few rainbows as well, the smaller fish that we are catching are fantastic table fare.

Episode 12

Lake Erie Giant Walleyes

Show Date: March 23rd & 24th, 2019

Location: Lake Erie, Port Clinton, Ohio

Guide: Charter Captain Mike Patterson [419-308-6925 | mikessportfishing.com]

This week we’re back out on another Great Lake, Lake Erie, with Captain Mike Patterson.  We get an unusually calm few days, which makes our mid-March day feel like late April. We do a bit of jigging, but primarily catch fish trolling.

Lake Erie is a well known walleye factory, and was on full display during our trip.  Trolling extremely slow, around 1mph, using shallow diving stickbaits like the Livingston JerkMaster.  It was an amazing fishing experience, especially seeing Blake catch a fish of a lifetime!
