Episode 40
Ryan Gets to Go Fishing
Show Date: October 5th & 6th, 2013
Location: Menominee River, Near Pembine, Wisconsin

It’s the annual photographer outing, and Ryan the photographer is psyched to throw some baits for bass, walleye, and pike. John is the guide this week, and we’re out for 2 days of fishing excitement. Day one we check out the Menominee River to work the shorelines for bass.  We look for submerged wood, and cast the “wacky” worm where we find it.  The great thing about rivers is that if there are high winds, like we had during our time there, you can find places to get out of the wind and fish.  Day 2 we checked out a map, and found a few lakes we wanted to fish in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  Using our LakeMaster chip we looked for humps, and casted Kalins Grubs and Gulp!. We found ourselves catching the three different species we set out for all in the same spot, which was a nice surprise. When the wind kicked in around noon, we headed for the protected shoreline, and used our Humminbird to find weeds.  We set up outside the weeds, and casted across and found a gaggle of walleyes.  We had a fantastic time.  It was a blast to go fishin’ with the boss.

Episode 41
Harbor Fishing
Show Date: October 12th & 13th, 2013
Guide: Charter Captain Brian Settele [414-559-9238 | fishchaserguideservice.com]

This week we’re excited to be out once again with charter captain Brian Settele, this time in the Port Washington harbor casting for salmon and trout.  We’re working up and down the the harbor channels casting crank-baits.  A steady retrieve is the key here, and the hit is absolutely a hard “smack” when they hit, there is no doubt when you’ve hooked up.  The exciting part, aside from the hit, is the jumps you see while fighting these fish.

Episode 42
Petenwell Flowage Bonanaza
Show Date: October 19th & 20th, 2013
Location: Petenwell Flowage, Adams County, WI
Guide:  Pro Guide Larry Smith [920-361-4996 | walleyeguide.com]

This week we’re delighted to be back on the Petenwell Flowage with with our buddy, pro guide Larry Smith.  Larry knows all the hot spots, and he knows what to do when the water starts to cool down in the fall.  We have 2 great guests with us this week, Sherry and Jerry, who have been fishing with Larry for a while.

We start out vertical jigging using live bait, night-crawlers and minnows, and blade baits for walleyes.  Larry expected the bit to be slow at the start because of the cold water, but that was not the case for our day, the walleyes exploded out of gate right away.  Later on in the day, we head up river to target a few crappie spots, and are not disappointed by what we find in the submerged trees that we set up on.

Episode 43
The Mad Texan Returns!
Show Date: October 26th & 27th, 2013
Location: Hayward, Wisconsin
Guide: Pete Maina [PeteMaina.com]

It’s fall muskie season, and we’re fired up to be heading to northern Wisconsin to hang some suckers over the side of the boat with Pete Maina.  Pete is our resident muskie guru, so he’ll be instructing us on the proper technique for hooking a muskie with a quick-strike rig.  We also welcome “The Mad Texan” back into our boat this year.  Last year we met Jesse at the launch, and he was about to launch his boat to fish alone, so we invited him along with us.  This year he’s back, and ready to land a jumbo!

We have a bit of adverse weather, but it’s nothing that’ll slow us (or the bite) down.  We always have a great time in the Wisconsin northwoods, Jesse too, which is why he makes the trip every fall from Texas to muskie fish.
