Location: Detroit Lakes, MN

Guide: Dave Williamson [320-491-2898]

Accommodations: Best Western Premier The Lodge on Lake Detroit [https://www.thelodgeonlakedetroit.com/ | 218-847-8439]

We're back in western Minnesota with guide Dave Williamson, chasing muskies on Detroit Lake.

Dave fishes many lakes in this area, which gives us a lot of options to choose from. Lately, fish have been biting on Detroit Lake, so Dave tells us that we should have a good outing here. We have some weather blowing through, which could be good for us.

Also along with us is our resident muskie guru, Pete Maina, who will be running the boat in windy the conditions that we’re expecting. Blake is along too, for her first muskie trip of the year, and she has a lot of pent-up energy for casting.

Episode 41

Massive Harbor Salmon

Show Date: October 10th & 11th, 2020

Location: Milwaukee Harbor, Milwaukee, WI

Guide: Captain Caleb Zorn [262-515-7944]

This is the time of year that the chinook salmon return to where they were stocked, spawn, and then die.  These fish are aggressive this time of year, because of the bait we’re using - eggs from other fish.  Using these spawn sacks, triggers bites because these fish want to destroy other eggs, so theirs have a better chance of survival.

These fish are huge, and fight like nothing else!

Episode 42

Fall Bassin’

Show Date: October 17th & 18th, 2020

Location: Waukesha County, Wisconsin

This week we’re on the hunt for bass with our resident bass expert Matt Bichanich, and he’s got us on a unique bite - top water frogs!  We have a warm day when we fish heavily weeded areas on the Fox River, up river from Lake Tichigan. Matt has us casting the new Kalin’s Google Eye Frog, which has a recessed hook, so they come through these very heavy weeds pretty well. This bite will be good on warm days all through October.

We move on to another lake on day two, and work deeper water, using summer baits like the wac-o worm & jig and pig.

Episode 43

Walleyes After Turnover

Show Date: October 24th & 25th, 2020

Location: Houghton, Michigan

This week we headed north, to the upper pinnsula of Michigan to enjoy the fall colors, and catch some fish too. When we arrived, we found that most of the color change had already taken place. The difficult part about this time of year is turn-over. Luckily, with the cooler weather, the lakes seemed to already be turned over.

We are looking to target walleye, but expect to catch pike, and maybe a few bass too.

We are up for a day and a half, getting a lot of wind during our first half day. We find fish, but with gusts up to 40 MPH, it's difficult to both control the boat, and see a bite.

On day 2, it's flat calm, so we went back to the spots we found fish, and started catching them again. As soon as we got a pattern down, the rain started, and the bite totally shut down.
