We’ve got a challenging fishing day ahead of us as we head out on the water with Pro Guide Jeff Winters, and his son-in-law Ed.  Jeff tells us that he’s had a tough bite the last week, but says we’re coming out of it.  We have storms rolling through, with a few patches of heavy rain.  Jeff is always the master of the multi-species bite, and he tells us that he’s going with the flow on a day like we’ve got.

Jeff delivers on his promise, and finds us fish.  Mostly walleye, and in the strangest spot - shallow water under lily pads! We’re using live bait as well as plastics.

Episode 24
Cold Front Fishing with Friends
Show Date: June 11th & 12th, 2016
Location: Vilas County, Wisconsin

A major cold front was moving in the day before our scheduled annual buddy fishing outing.  When we got on the water, this early June day felt more like mid-March.  There was lots of wind, but that actually helped us pick a spot to fish, which was the most windy spot on the lake.  The reason we fished in the most uncomfortable spot, was because usually wherever wind is blowing into, is whee the baitfish are; and where there are baitfish, there are predator fish.  We’re mostly targeting walleye and smallmouth bass, using nightcrawlers and leeches on jigs, as well as Kalin’s plastics on a darter-head jig.

Episode 25
Two Days, Two Storms
Show Date: June 18th & 19th, 2016

A recurring theme this spring has been temperamental weather.  The storms were rolling in as we got to Lake Winnebago to fish with Charter Captain Brian Settele. Brian has been on a good walleye bite the last few weeks, and we joined him to catch what many believe to be the best eating walleyes in the state.

We wait out the storm in the morning, and miss out on about half of our day. When we do get to the water, this fish are biting.  We have no problem getting a limits worth of fish with the remainder of our day.

We finish out our show the next day by heading out to Delavan Lake to find some largemouth bass with Matt Bichanich of Hard & Soft Fishing.
