Fishing Getaway Winners Hit the Bay

We’re thrilled to welcome the winners of the 5th annual John Gillespie’s & Fleet Farm Fishing Getaway Giveaway—Greg Moeller and his father-in-law—who joined us for an unforgettable day on the water.

This year’s adventure took us to Chequamegon Bay out of Ashland, Wisconsin, where we hit the water aboard our Recon Boat chasing bass, walleyes, and northern pike. We focused mostly on plastics like the Kalin’s Jerk Minnow Jr., Tickle Tail, and the always-reliable Wac-O Worm for bass.

A huge thank you to Fleet Farm and Minn Kota Motors for making this incredible experience possible once again, and special thanks to our guide Josh Teigen, as well as the River Rock Inn, for keeping our crew and guests comfortable and well taken care of.

Another awesome trip, another reason we love doing this every year.

Chilly Temps, Hot Bite

One of the greatest joys in life is sharing what you love—and for me, that’s getting my grandson Jack out in the boat to go fishing. It’s something I truly treasure.

We made a similar trip last year, and Jack had such a great time that he asked to bring a friend along this time. His buddy Alden—a river fisherman who loves chasing anything that bites—was all in for a Northwoods adventure targeting walleye, bass, and pike.

Despite chilly temps and a stiff wind, the bite stayed steady and the smiles stayed wide. A great day on the water, and even better memories made with the next generation of anglers.

Chasing Giants on Eagle Lake

We’re back on the legendary Eagle Lake in Vermilion Bay, Ontario, fishing out of the iconic Andy Myers Lodge—a true angler’s destination with top-notch guides, cozy cabins, hearty meals, and everything you need for a classic Canadian fishing adventure.

This trip, we’re chasing walleyes, and they’re not hard to find. Our longtime friend and guide Danny Herbeck knows these waters inside and out, and he’s on a mission to put us on the jumbos. His weapon of choice? A simple jig and leech—a bit old-school, but deadly effective.

Meanwhile, John sticks with the Kalin’s Jerk Minnow and hooks into a few absolute tanks. We’re also joined by Dave Osbourne from Clam Outdoors and Julian Kalka, owner of Andy Myers Lodge, making it a memorable outing with great people, great fish, and even better stories.

Fishing Green Bay’s Jumbo Perch

It’s jumbo perch season on the Bay of Green Bay, and Captain Brett Jolly has the tactics dialed-in to get these giants to bite! Joining us is our favorite Personal Injury "Fishin’" Attorney, Chris MacGillis, who breaks his personal best perch record multiple times during the trip—so you know the bite was hot.

We had a blast in the boat, and a huge thanks goes to Brett for not only putting us on fish but also promoting catch and release to help preserve this incredible fishery for the next generation.
