Episode 5
Whitefish Party on the Ice
Show Date: February 3rd & 4th, 2018
Location: Sand Bay Beach Resort - Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
Guide: Pro Guide Dale Stroschein [ 920-743-5731 | wackywalleye.com]

This week we are excited to get out on the ice with some old friends, and to meet some new ones! It’s our annual ice fishing party out of Sand Bay Beach Resort!  Wacky Walleye Guide Service is our go-to guide service in Door County, and Dale the owner has been a lifelong friend.  Dales and his co-guides, Caleb, Marc, and Mike help get us out on to the ice, and get everyone comfortable in their heated ice shelters.

Our target is the whitefish, a fish that is a blast to catch, but also can be elusive at times.  There is a certain cadence that is needed to lure them in.  Once you get it, you can keep 10 fish per day, and they can be very tasty cooked a variety of ways.

Thanks to Wacky Walleye Guide Service for a wonderful trip, and to all the people that joined us this year.  If you’d like to be part of the group next year, give them a call or visit their website (both listed above).

Episode 6
Lake Country Panfish
Show Date: February 10th & 11th, 2018
Location: Waukesha County, Wisconsin

There are a large number of lakes in the northwest corner of Waukesha county, which is why it is sometimes referred to “Lake Country” by local residents.  These lakes offer ample opportunities at different species of fish including bluegill, walleye, bass, pike and muskie.

We are ice fishing one of these lakes on a beautiful day, with sunny skies, and not too much wind.  Our set up is the perfect way to target two different species.  We are jigging for bluegills using Kastmasters, and small jigs in shallow water.  In the deeper water surrounding us, we set up Beaver Dams for northern pike & walleye using live and dead bait.

Episode 7
Big Eau Pleine Crappies
Show Date: February 17th & 18th, 2018
Location: Big Eau Pleine Reservoir, Marathon County, WI
Guide: Brett Jolly [715-581-5678 | captainjollycharters.com]

We’re ice fishing in a part of the state of Wisconsin that we don’t get too very often, but now that we’ve been here, we can’t wait to come back during open water season.
We are fishing the Big Eau Pleine Reservoir in Marathon County, WI - near Mosinee.  Charter Captain Brett Jolly lives in this area, and knows it very well.  Brett has some good buddies joining us who’ve put out a few tip-downs to add on to our jigging presentation.

We are targeting crappies in the basin of the reserveir, Brett tells us that the crappies move around a lot, so we just need to stay put, and wait for the schools to come through.  When they do come through, there is no doubt when you look at your Humminbird - they just light up the bottom.

Jigging using Rattlemasters, and live bait with small treble hooks on the tip-downs is is what is brining in these fish to bite.

Episode 8
Chequamegon Bay Mixed Bag
Show Date: February 24th & 25th, 2018
Location: Chequamegon Bay; Ashland, Wisconsin
Guide: Josh Teigen [715-813-0575  | joshteigen.com ]

This week we’re excited to get out and target bass through the ice, which not too many people do.  Our guide Charter Captain Josh Teigen is our guide, and we’ve also got a group of great friends joining us as well.  There is a lot of ice out on bay, and Josh has been targeting bas through the ice for many years.

Although we were targeting bass, we didn’t catch many, and we weren’t complaining, because we were catching everything else!  Along with the bass, we caught just about every other species that swims in Lake Superior  - Lake Trout, Brown Trout, Eel Pout, the list goes on…

We had a great time, because every fish we hooked was a surprise once it made it to the surface!
