Florida Road Trip

Show Date: April 1, 2023

Locations: Lake Ida, Palm Beach County, FL & The Atlantic Ocean, Port St. Lucie, FL

We wanted to squeeze in a little more fishing during our time in Florida, so we headed to Lake Ida with Capt. Seth Funt to target peacock bass.  Lake Ida is an inland freshwater lake, well known for peacocks, as well as Clown Knifefish and jumbo largemouth bass.

We  then head out on to the Atlantic to tire ourselves out catching whatever will bite, fishing next to a power plant just like we do in Wisconsin, and there were a lot of bites!

Episode 15

Episode 16

Limit-Out on Lake Erie

Show Date: April 15, 2023

Location: Lake Erie, Port Clinton, Ohio

Guide: Charter Captain Mike Patterson [419-308-6925 | mikessportfishing.com]

This week we head over to Lake Erie to get out with our longtime friend and captain, Mike Patterson. There's a great jigging bit for the male walleyes, who are very aggressive this time of year because it's spawning season.  It's pretty common to get a limit, and since Ohio has no possession limit, you can take home a day's limit for every day you fish.

Episode 17

River Float Trip

Show Date: April 22, 2023

Location: Oconto River, Oconto Wisconsin

Guide: Tim Maher [(920) 604-4169]

We are excited to get back on the water in one of the most unique ways a person can get out on the water, a small inflatable fishing raft.  Pro guide Tim Maher has been getting his clients on fish that most people can’t get to in a normal boat. Tim says this raft can float in 4 inches of water when it’s fully loaded. The other big benefit is the lack of noise, and general peacefulness of the surrounding wilderness as you float the 8-10 miles downstream during the duration of the trip.

Of course there's also the fishing, which was absolutely phenomenal during our trip. We also lucked-out and got some fantastic weather too. We used hair jigs and plastics, concentrating our efforts on slack-water areas of the river. Tim knows a LOT of spots in this stretch, and he’ll do everything he can to get you on fish.

Episode 18

Post-Spawn Walleyes on the Bay

Show Date: April 29, 2023

Location: West Side of the Bay of Green Bay, Oconto, Wisconsin

Guide: Brett Jolly [715-581-5678 | captainjollycharters.com]

Captain Brett Jolly tells us that the post-spawn walleye bite on the Bay of Green Bay is an underappreciated opportunity that many anglers overlook in their pursuit of bigger pre-spawn fish.  Brett tells us that these fish are more aggressive because they are ready to eat after they’re done spawning.  The stand-out lure the past few years has been the hair jig, but plastics and hard baits bring in fish too.
