Willow Flowage & Waukesha Co.

Show Date: July 1, 2023

Locations: The WIllow Flowage, Oneida County, WI & Waukesha County, Wisconsin

Guide: Pro Guide Jeff Winters [715-385-9313 | jeffsguideservice.com]

This week we’re fishing at two locations, the Willow Flowage, and then on to a lake closer to home in Waukesha County.

Pro Guide Jeff Winters has been the master of the different flowages in northern Wisconsin for many years, and we’re out chasing walleyes on the WIllow Flowage in Oneida County.  Chasing is the most appropriate term here, because we couldn't quite catch them in the myriad of spots that Jeff knows. We transitioned to bass later on in the day, but by the time we got the pattern down, we’d run out of time.  Whether we’re catching or not, the Flowage is a natural beauty, and a great place to spend a day.

For part two, we invite Henry Abbott out to a lake closer to home, and get after some bass.  We find them mainly in the weeds, and weed through enough of them to find a few nice sized ones mixed in. All in all, a great summer day on the water.

Family Vacation

Show Date: July 15, 2023

Location: Vilas County, Wisconsin

There’s nothing more rewarding than watching your grandkids grow up, and learn new skills. Every year at the family vacation, we see the older grandkids sharpen their fishing skills, and the younger ones getting out to fish for the first time.

It’s such a good week to get up to the northwoods and enjoy eachothers company, and relax both on and off the water.

Episode 30

Take Your Kids Fishing Day

Show Date: July 22, 2023

Location: Bay of Green Bay, Oconto, Wisconsin

Guide: Brett Jolly [715-581-5678 | captainjollycharters.com]

We’re excited to get out on the boat with Captain Brett Jolly, not only because he puts us on fish, but because we’ll be fishing with a few anglers from the next generation.  Along with us in the boat is Brett's son, Nash; as well as Chris MacGillis and his son, Owen.  Seeing these 2 boys get so excited about fishing really makes us proud to do what we do, to share the great sport of fishing with our audience.

Brett knows how to catch walleyes, and with a very calm morning, he starts us out trolling.  Using worm harnesses with Eagle Claw hooks proves to be deadly, and we routinely have 2 on at a time, which Brett actually told us was a slow day. After getting out fill trolling, and with the wind picking up, we get set up on a casting drift, and get a good amount of action to finish up a perfect day out on the water.

Episode 31

Beautiful Door County Bass

Show Date: July 29, 2023

Location: Door County, Wisconsin

Guide: Dale Stroschein [Wacky Walleye Guide Service - 920-743-5731 | wackywalleye.com]

Accommodations: Sand Bay Beach Resort [SandBayBeach.com | (920) 743-5731]

We’re excited to once again get out on the water with Captain Dale Stroschine of Wacky Walleye Guide Service, and this time we’re after bass. Dale knows the techniques that get these bass to bite, and it’s not what we are used to using. We usually use jerk minnows, with a quick snap action to trigger a bite. However, Dale has been getting success using more subtle finesse techniques, like using a “Ned Rig” with a very concentrated and gentle reeling technique. This may not be the most ‘exciting’ way to jig for fish, but the fact that it catches more fish was undeniable during our trip.
