The Fleet Farm 30th Anniversary Highlights Show

Show Date: January 1, 2022

Location: Fleet Farm, West Bend, Wisconsin

It’s the 30th anniversary of John Gillespie's Waters & Woods, and we thought there wasn’t a better way to celebrate than to congratulate the grand prize winners of the 2021 Fleet Farm Fishing Contest, and to take a look back at some of the great memories that we’ve made after over 30 years on the air.

Episode 2

Perch on the Bay

Show Date: January 8, 2022

Location: West Side of the Bay of Green Bay, Oconto, Wisconsin

Guide: Tim Maher [(920) 604-4169]

We’re back out on the ice this week, and what an exciting bite! We’re out with guide Tim Maher, who has been on a great perch bite over the last few years.  We were out with him in the spring for late ice last year, but he said they’re already biting, and we headed to the west side of the Bay as soon as we could.

Along with the excitement of having the perch population come back on the bay, is the many ways you can fish for them.  Whether it be tip-downs, tip-ups, automatic fishermen, or jigging; there’s bound to be an enjoyable way to catch these for any angler.

Episode 3

The Backwaters of the Mississippi River

Show Date: January 15, 2022

Location: Mississippi River, La Crosse, WI area

Guide: Vince Moldenhauer [(414) 791 5534 | greatriveroutdoorsllc.com]

This week we are on a very unique bite on the Mississippi River.  Guide Vince Moldenhauer takes us to a slew in the backwaters of the river with an airboat to target panfish. These slews stay frozen just about all winter, but the ice on the river is not safe, so the airboat gets us to our spot safely no matter what the ice conditions are.

We’re mostly jigging, using small Acme Tungsten jigs or Kastmasters. These slews are otherwise inaccessible, and there are a lot of them, so Vince can stay on fish all winter.

Episode 4

Crappies in Hayward

Show Date: January 22, 2022

Location: Hayward, Wisconsin

This week we headed to Hayward to fish with Pete Maina, and his dad Tex.  We’re doing something that was pretty unconventional not too long ago, fishing deep basins for crappies.  It’s pretty straight forward, find the deepest part of a lake, and punch a bunch of holes, and use your Humminbird to see where you mark fish.

We experienced a pretty tough bite, but still managed to catch a good bunch a fish, as well as an exciting flurry right before dark!

Episode 5

Mid-Winter Panfish

Show Date: January 29, 2022

Waukesha County, Wisconsin

In what has become a yearly event with a good group of people, we’re out in Waukesha County, on a beautiful winter day to jig for panfish, and set a few Beaver Dams for pike.
