Wild Start to the Muskie Season

Show Date: October 1st, 2022

Location: Leech Lake

Every muskie angler knows sometimes you need to put your time in before the fish show up, and we sure did on this trip to Leech Lake.  We’ve got a solid crew, with Pete Maina, Rusty Lilyquist, and Josh Teigen joining John to get out on this massive body of water.  We put our time in, and find that both days we’re out, there is a tiny window where they bite just at dark, which makes the whole day worth it.

Episode 41

Fall Bass & Pike

Show Date: October 8, 2022

Location: Waukesha County, Wisconsin

It’s the time of the year where the lakes are void of recreational boats, but it’s not too cold to enjoy a great day fishing. We’re out with Matt Bichanich on a lake near Milwaukee that’s got a good mix of bass and pike.  Matt tells us that the game fish are transitioning from their summer patterns chasing baitfish to the weed-flats. When the water starts to cool down, slow moving baits are the way to go.

Fall on the Mississippi River

Show Date: October 15th, 2022

Location: Mississippi River, Red Wing, Minnesota

Guide: Jeremiah Luhmann [651-380-7278 | luhmannsriverguiding.com]

We’re up in the Red Wing area to enjoy the peak fall scenery, and catch a limit of walleyes with guide Jeremiah Luhmann. Jeremiah says there’s great fishing all throughout fall, you just have to dress for the weather conditions.  We had pretty warm days, and a full moon while we were there, and we still found fish to bite.  There are lots of ways to catch fish, and the best way for us was trolling, which makes it a very relaxing day on the water.

Cold Water Bass

Show Date: October 29th, 2022

Location: Big Muskego and Tichigan Lakes

The colder days of October have begun, and we ventured out on a crisp morning to get after some bass with our resident bass expert Matty B. Matt tells us that when the surface temps start to drop, there are lots of presentations to choose from, and trying  a bunch will help you key in on what is working best. As turnover is happening, fish can be in any part of the water column.
