Walleyes on Chequamegon Bay

Show Date: September 4th, 2021

Location: Lake Superior, Ashland, Wisconsin

Guide: Josh Teigen [715-813-0575  | joshteigen.com ]

This week we were supposed to head way out on Lake Superior, to a great fishing spot called Standard Rock, but the high winds prevented us from getting out there.

Captain Josh Teigen is on the water just about every day, and always has a place where he can catch fish.  We head out on Chequamegon Bay, mainly looking for bass, pike, and maybe a few walleye, but end up being surprised by what we catch. Josh has never seen a day like we had, he told us that he’s never seen the numbers and sizes of walleye like we experienced.

What a truly memorable day!

Episode 37

Trophy Lake Michigan Trout

Show Date: September 11th, 2021

Location: Lake Michigan, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Guide: Captain Caleb Zorn [262-515-7944]

Something magical happens along the shoreline of Lake Michigan in September and October. Gigantic four year old King Salmon come back to the harbors to spawn and then they die.  At the end of their life, these salmon return to the location that they were stocked, so they will be streaming into many of the harbors that dot the coast.

We’re fishing the Milwaukee harbor with Captain Caleb Zorn, who fishes all the harbors from Kenosha all the way to Sturgeon Bay.  We’re vertical jigging  using lightweight tackle, like walleye or bass rods, and bigger jigs or Kastmasters.  This is a trophy bite, so you don’t catch a lot of fish, but the ones you do catch are special.  Something that is very hard to describe is how these fish fight, they hit and take off, with fights sometimes lasting 20 minutes!

Episode 38

Leech Lake Muskies

Show Date: September 18th, 2021

Location: Leech Lake, Longville, Minnesota

We’re officially in fall muskie mode, and one of our favorite muskie areas is in the small town of Longville, Minnesota.  Our good buddy Rusty Lilyquist knows the area very well, and says there is more fishable muskie water within a 20 mile radius of Longville than anywhere else in the state.

Running the boat is Pete Maina, and Pete loves this time of year because the fish are chasing fast moving baits like bucktail, topwater, or jerkbait. He says there is also a shallow water movement of fish as the water starts to cool, so there are new fish showing up that weren't there during the summer.

Also joining us is Josh Teigen, who snuck away from guiding in Wisconsin for a few days for what he would say is his passion, muskie fishing.

Episode 39

Crappies with Big Dave

Show Date: September 25th, 2021

Location: Wisconsin River - Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin

Guide:  Pro Guide Big Dave Ehardt [414-803-7160]

We finally got back on the river with our good friend and guide, Big Dave Ehardt. The river has so much to offer, and each day can be different.  The day we fish, the crappies are biting, and we’re glad they are, because it is a really fun bite.  Using plastics on a 2-way rig, and getting the boat positioned in just the right spot is the key here, which is why you need someone that knows the water as well as Dave.
